A typical session lasts between 1 - 1/2 hours. The first session will be a little longer by about 15 minutes so that intake paperwork can be completed.
Working in the stall with just a halter and lead rope will allow the horse to communicate with his/ her body, but prohibit unsafe movement. Preferably the stall should be clean and without food. If hay in the stall becomes too much of a distraction, it can easily be placed outside the stall doors until after the session.
A time free of distractions (ie stall cleaning, feeding, turn -in/ out) is optimal so that the horse can both feel the bodywork and communicate feedback about the work.
It is best to work on a "cold" unworked horse. Hand walking or turnout immediately after a session is ideal so that the horse's muscles can assimilate changes. However, a light ride after a session is fine.
