I have loved horses for as long as I can remember. From watching “The Black Stallion”, to riding lessons, to summer long horse camps in my childhood, I spent as much time as I could with horses. Now as an adult, I am privileged to own and partner with two beautiful Arabians.
It was out of my deep love for Tye and Basha that my journey into equine care began. As a former ultrarunner, I knew how debilitating uncared for tensions and restrictions could be so I wanted to find a way to help my ride-and-tie and endurance horses feel and perform their best.
Thus began my journey…..
I first sought out knowledge from the University of South Carolina, Aiken resulting in a Certificate of Equine Massage.
Wanting more, I traveled to California for onsite Equinology training, followed by the extensive demands of an externship. With the acceptance of my externship, I became an Equinology Equine Bodyworker EEBW.
Still feeling that something was missing, I attended a weekend workshop on the Masterson method. THIS was the missing link because I could work with horses instead of simply on horses. After that initial workshop, I committed myself to completing the 426 hours needed to become a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner.
Whether or not horses perform in an arena, on a trail, or just live in a pasture, being alive means their body is in use and can experience tension and restriction It's my goal to ensure every bodywork session is tailored to meet a horse where he/ she is at and make some improvement. I achieve this by listening to what the horse has to say, staying below their brace response, and working with their nervous system to reduce tension and restriction.
